Originally from a Japan, and used in Tuna Lines, these floats were brought over to Lunenburg, NS, by a Chandlery owner, more than 30 years ago. The float has been with collectors and dealers since then, in the Canadian Maritimes. Emerald-green glass ball is now covered in vintage line, netted-knotwork by Sharon Bourque, in Moncton, New Brunswick. The glass sealed area pulls inwards from the vacuum effect when the the glass float was made. This is said to also help the float against the pressure of the ocean, when in use.
