Artist Bio:  Sharon Bourque

Last updated: January 1, 2025.

Sharon Bourque is an artist from Moncton. She was born in Canada and enjoyed the Maritimes as a kid till her family moved to Ontario, after the loss of her father.  She returned back down home in 2001, and has been home in New Brunswick ever since.  After taking 'photo hunting' day trips up the coast, Sharon uses those images (and other resources) to inspire her paintings.  She also seeks out nautical materials for making hand-crafted, collectible items such as decorative fishing floats (including vintage materials) and lobster line wreaths.

Her paintings are primarily acrylic paint on stretched canvas or canvas board. Other mediums used have included watercolours, oils, multimedia, canvas mosaics, and digital art.  Art content has a focus on coastal themes, Maritime life, marine life, lighthouses, beaches, tall ships, and various fishing vessels.  There are also some rare pieces made of a more abstract nature.

Canadian Coastal Art was registered as a business in 2014 by Sharon Bourque.
Since then, art, art-printed products, Maritime photo-art, and nautical crafts have been created and offered to the public at local shows, exhibit, online and in various shops and markets, in the Maritimes.
Her first art exhibit was at the Moncton Public Library Art Gallery, in December 2015.

Over the last 10 years her art, prints and nautical crafts have made it into 21 locations in the Maritimes, and have been acquired by people who live coast to coast in Canada, (EG:  orders from British Columbia, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and many tourists from unknown destinations), and by visitors from the United States.

Her Maritime Art series from 2020 has been available in calendars. The art in this series includes Canadian Maritime lighthouses, fishing vessels for lobsters, scallops, and crabs, tall ships, and historic vessels such as "David Weston" Riverboat Steamer (circa 1900's) that serviced passengers along the Saint John river, NB.
Along with the calendars, art prints have also been printed to postcards, folding cards, art magnets, posters, mugs and selected prints were made available on t-shirts.

In 2024, original paintings, printed art, and canvas prints were on display & available at:
